It was a fruitful day in #Cyberport together with Rocky Cheng #BOCHKMichael Leung #BOADr Wendy Woon Ming LEE #AutoDesk and Justin Leung #YCP. We were in the vetting meeting to select #startups to join Cyberport #Incubation Programme #CIP.

Again, quite a few passionate and elite #entrepreneurs applied for the programme. Great innovations on #FinTech#InsurTech#AI#EdTech#HealthTech#PropTech#DigitalEntertainment#LifeStyle#SmartCity, etc. Impressive that a few of them have already had footprint or have their plan and ambition to go after #ASEAN and #GBA markets.

Thanks Cyberport’s team Eric Chan Alice So William Lau Steve Lam and many others for all their effort behind the scene. Keep it going and add oil.

We had lunch in the Interval/Farmacy restaurant in Cyberport. They served vegetables from #Farmacy which use technologies to provide farming at store. Thanks Raymond Mak for making it happened there. Tasty and healthy plus nice environment.

#Academia#Corporates#TechGiants & #Startups are joining hands to establish the first ever #Corporate #Innovation #Index (CII) for Hong Kong.

#CUHK Business School together with #HKGCC supported by #HKSAR #ITC#Cyberport#HKSTP, Corporates #HangSengBank#JETCO#JardineRestaurantGroup#TradeLink #Prestique, & Tech Giants #IBM #AWS #SAP, launched the CII project today in HKGCC. https://lnkd.in/eXf44k7

Under Secretary HKSAR ITB David Chung, HKGCC Chairman George Leung, CUHK Business School Dean Professor Lin Zhou, & Professor Wai Man Cheung gave their speeches to support the CII project.

Seasoned corporate leader Patrick S Lee & I led an interactive discussion on corporate innovation with over 40 f2f & many online corporate & tech leaders. The discussion was open & insightful. Here was one that I couldn’t agree more.

Raymond Cheng, the former CIO & COO of HSBC APAC, was here today. He said, “The more difficult time we are in, the more innovation we need.” I believe it said it all for us under the tough time of the Covid-19 & heavy digital disruption across industries & economics.

Appreciate support from Eugene Hsia Stella Kwan Andrew Ling Francis Ngai David Chow Chris So Angus Choi Yvonne Che Eunice Chan Vicky Wong & colleagues from #CUHK & #APIB.

Visited the #HKSTP #InnoCell together with Edmund Lee #TIN Chairman and Duncan Chiu #HKITJC Chairman today. #Wow.. It is amazing. It is another milestone for Hong Kong #Innovation and #Technology #Ecosystem. It is much more than a hotel providing accommodation for #startups to stay and live closer to their offices, labs and incubation centres.

The design of the InnoCell is a #collaboration #community with different types of open indoor and outdoor spaces for like minds #entrepreneurs to mingle, brainstorm and co-create values. Really impressive.

Congratulations and thank you to HKSTP to bring this first of its kind to Hong Kong and empower our ecosystem. More about the InnoCell here.

The key for success in the #DigitalEconomy is how we can empower enterprises & #startups to collaborate & get the most out of their cooperation or even coopetition. I have been contributing to this on different capacities in the innovation & technology ecosystem. Advisor, professor, mentor, judge of #hackathon & #competition, investors are some of the examples.

Today, I had another chance to do so through delivering a #CUHK #MiniMBA class on “Emerging Tech & Business Innovation”. More importantly, the participants came from both traditional enterprises and startups. This is a special design for our Mini-MBA in Innovative Leadership. Thanks for #HKSTP to bring a few elite startups from their #LEAP & #Incubation programmes like #beNovelty #Compathnion to join the class today. Also thank to large enterprises like #ICBC #CCB for their active participation today.

I was impressed by the chemistry of bringing these groups together in a class. The #diversity stimulated lots of great interaction. We have gone through concepts & cases on #Innovation#BusinessModels #Reinvention, competitions from #DigitalDisruption#Intrapreneurship.

Appreciate Anvil Ng Samuel Choi Nathan Ng #HKSTP for their support to our Mini MBA programme.

Glad to meet many friends, #entrepreneurs#investors and #incubatees #face2face #f2f in #HKSTP #LEAP gathering in their #InnoCentre in Kowloon Tong.

LEAP stands for the Leading Enterprises Acceleration Programme. It is a flagship growth-stage business acceleration programme from #HKSTP. It empowers elite #startups for their global expansion. Harris SUN, the CEO of #Raspect is a member of LEAP and has been growing well into key markets in Asia and the world.

Really appreciate the leaders from #HKSTP Peter Mok Kiki Y. Wang, CFA, MBA Anvil Ng and many more for their contributions and effort to cultivate elite startups for Hong Kong to become global leaders. Keep it going. 加油!

#SME #Digitalisation is not a yes or no question anymore. It is a question of how. Several months ago, I had a discussion with Karen F. & Marius Chow from 香港生產力促進局 #HKPCAcademy on this after I have published my book #數碼力大提升.

How can we bring the wisdom of SME leaders, innovative #entrepreneurs from #startups & #professionals together, and generate sustainable synergy among these experts? How other SMEs, which have just started or not yet begun their digitalisation journey, could learn from this #community of experts? That was the start of this #InnoPreneur #platform.

#HKPC has done a great job to put these all together. You will see experience sharing forums on major industries, #startups solutions showcase for these industries, subject matter experts to interact with audiences in live #KOL style, #eClincs where SMEs can meet experts for #consultation, startup showcase & certainly #training#workshops & site visits.

Please join our 1st #InnoPreneur Forum on #FoodTech #FoodIndustry on Mar 26. HKPC will further share our year-long InnoPreneur Series. All SMEs, startups & #ecosystem stakeholders are welcome to join. Thanks so much for #HKPC teams to make this happen. See you.

Glad to be back to #Cyberport and joined the vetting committee of the Cyberport #Incubation Programme #CIP. The committee has reviewed a series of presentations from the shortlisted applicants through Zoom. Impressive innovations from the applicants.

Very pleased to see that the programme has been improved a lot from the time that I was leading it in the capacity of the Chief Public Mission Officer there. Thanks for the leadership from Eric ChanAlice So and the effort from her team. This programme has nurtured quite a few elite #startups in Hong Kong like #GoGoX (#GoGoVan#Klook #Shopline #Lynk #TNG #Origami #FindSolutionsAI #Toby and more.

Cyberport selects over 100 start-ups per year to join its incubation programme. Mentoring, funding, customers, investors and partners matching, marketing, professional services, mainland and overseas expansion, and more are some of the key values that the incubatees can gain from the programme. Happy to see and partner with good friends Charleston SinRaymond Wing Fung CHAN, CFT® Stephen Lau and LM Chow to help Cyberport to cultivate the next generation of #entrepreneurs for Hong Kong. I also shared my book #數碼力大提升 with them. Thank you guys.

Glad to share my view on the opportunities & challenges in #GBA with 2 passionate, innovative & elite #CEOs of two #Tech #startupsAndy Kwok #OpenCertHub and Wiva Wei #MatrixSense from Hong Kong today. We were interviewed by CTgoodjobs on the theme of preparing talents to seize the opportunities and manage challenges in the #GreaterBayArea.

#GBA is a new market to many startups. It has its own uniqueness & challenges but at the same time it has huge market potential. Whenever we enter into a new market, we will have these issues. GBA has no difference. Hong Kong talents can go after this market gradually. From knowing the market, building the people networks, identifying product-market fit to engaging with the right partners and investors.

In terms of skills, apart from Putonghua, Cantonese and English, the young talents need to pick up another important language called #DataLiteracy. Enterprises in GBA badly need not just IT staff but also non-IT staff to master data literacy to sharpen their competitiveness locally and globally.

Appreciate Cindy Chan and Regina Tam Natalie Fong from #CTgoodjobs for the interviews. Will share the contents once it is published. Stay tuned.

Right after our Hong Kong FinTech Week 2020 last week & right before the announcement of the 2020 #HKICTAwards FinTech Award Winners tomorrow, I visited the CEO of the leading FinTech company in Hong Kong i.e. Simon Loong of WeLab Group today.

#WeLab is one of the leading #FinTech #Unicorns in the world. They pioneered so much that we, #startups or #incumbents, can learn from them. Thanks for Simon’s & Professor Chan’s leadership.

“Inspiring Workspace” is what I described their headquarters. I see young professionals with passion. I see #DNA of an Unicorn. I particularly love the quotes on the wall, e.g., “Never Not My Job” reminds us the importance of #Agility & “Stay Hungry” reminds us the importance of #Sustainable #Innovation. Great #culture!

I also learnt their history from the Bell on the wall (They rang the bell when they hit performance target), #永樂街 (their 1st office), table tennis table (once was their workbench), van, little unicorn..

Special thank to Simon to write a Preface for my book #數碼力大提升。He also shared copies of my book to his teammates. Really appreciate it. Look forward to writing the next chapters of WeLab in many years ahead.

Well done team:Kelly Wong Adrian Tse Fiona Ng Jessica Lam Tat Lee Kenny Cheng Paul Ip Nancy H. many unsung heroes.

#ASEAN is the #NextBigThing for startups from #HongKong#GreaterBayArea #GBA as well as #mainland #startups. ASEAN has close to 650 million people with growing number of middle class and millennials.

On one hand, the local startup ecosystems in ASEAN countries are heating up with rapidly-rising middle class, great government initiatives for tech startups, #VC and #CVC investors’ appetite on tech, certainly innovative #entrepreneurs and more. #GoJek and #Tokopedia from #Indonesia#Lazada and #Razor from #Singapore#Grab from #Malaysia #Singapore#VNG from #Vietnam, just name a few. On the other hand, it has huge opportunities for startups from HK, GBA and mainland startups.

Join me to explore with entrepreneurs who have been working on their ventures in 5 major ASEAN countries including #Singapore #Malaysia #Indonesia #Thailand #Vietnam. Thanks for #HKPC Hong Kong Productivity Council to organize the forum.
