As a member of the GS1 HK’s IoT Industry Advisor Council, I am glad to join the 16th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao IoT Technology Application Summit co-organised by GS1 HK today in 3 locations, mainland, Hong Kong and #Macau, simultaneously.

Appreciate the effort from Anna LinCorinna FungJulian Sin#GS1HK, Kingsley Wong #OGCIOIvan Lam#ASTRI, 龍勝當 #澳門電腦學會,and certainly counterparts in Guangdong. Glad to see many industry experts there as well Andrew Lingwilson chongVincent SoIr Dr Venus LunHarman NgKinsen LeeBryan Peng(彭文俊)Alex Chung 鍾孝揚 and many others.

Great to see the collaboration across 3 regions on IoT applications on various industries. To make our Greater Bay Area or GBA work, we need smart money flow (FinTech and RegTech), smart logistics flow (AIOT) and certainly smart information flow (AI and Big Data). All these flows have to be protected by CyberSecurity and Blockchain.

Thanks for Anna’s leadership and her GS1HK team effort. Look forward to having more collaboration in these areas and contributing more in this alliance across the #GreaterBayArea#GBA in 2022 and beyond.

Congrats to #AECOM Hong Kong to successfully launch its 1st #FastTrack #CityHack #Hackathon. It is the first stop of the AECOM’s hackathon series in Asia. Hong Kong is proud to be the first location showcasing how innovation empowers a smart city.

The AECOM’s #FastTrackCityHack is a two and a half days in-person hackathon and competition on December 3 – 5, 2021. It aims to inspire and drive the development of practicable, forward-looking solutions for a better urban future. It has 3 main streams for the participants to innovate for a #SmartCity#Resilience#CarbonZero and #DigitalEcosystem. Hundreds of students and entrepreneurs joined the hackathons and selected ones are now working hard in AECOM’s office to compete for the award.

Thanks Thomson Lai AECOM’s Asia Digital Leader for inviting me as a keynote speaker to get the passionate participants even more inspired for the hackathon. I chose the topic – “#Entrepreneurs: From Good to Great”. The participants are all good entrepreneurs already but what could differentiate them from good to great entrepreneurs. Solving the right problems right is the key. Appreciate #AECOMHK organizing such an impactful hackathon for Hong Kong and the great support from Madison Wai of Hill+Knowlton Strategies.

In the last 2 weeks, I am really grateful to contribute in different industries and professions, from #Engineering#Accounting#HR#ProjectManagement#Design, to #Banking#Insurance#SupplyChain and #Education, on how #innovation and #technologies or I&T made a difference. Our momentum on I&T in Hong Kong is unprecedented. Let’s transform #FromGoodToGreat. Keep it going!

Another inspirational episode of “Toa Sir Data Talk” or in Chinese “Toa Sir 講數” with Dr. Ricky Tsui, the Director of R&D and the Head of Arup University. Before that, I have done a few episodes with very experienced experts on data from different industries and will continue to interview more. The series has been so valuable and I also learned a lot from my guests. Really appreciate their sharings.

#Arup is one of the world’s leading #engineering consultancy services companies. We have explored how a professional firm made use of data and how culture and mindset impacted the industry. Stay tuned for how you can access this series soon.

I am also so glad to collaborate with Karen F., the GM of Future Skills and InnoPreneurs of HKPC, on upskilling talents on #DataLiteracy as a part of the Future Skills Framework of HKPC Academy. This series of “Toa Sir Data Talk” or in Chinese “Toa Sir 講數” will be broadcasted on HKPC platform and the networks of HKPC will be able to learn from my guests in the series. Really appreciate Karen F. Marius Chow and many colleagues from HKPC to support and trust us.

Many thanks for my #OpenCertHub teammates Andy Kwok Tony Woo 胡宗显 Andy Kwok and many others behind the scene to make this series “a dream comes true”.

Elite #startups from #HKSTP Leading Enterprise Acceleration Programme #LEAP showcased their achievement and #innovations today in #HKSTP #InnoCentre. They are some of the best in our ecosystem. Really appreciate Kiki Y. Wang, CFA, MBAAnvil Ng and their teams to nurture and empower these startups.

Apart from the startups in the LEAP programme, corporate executives, investors, mentors also joined today’s gathering. Felt good to see friends like 陳繼宇Dr. Jason Chan, MH, JP, Harris SUNEdmund LeePatrick S LeeS.C. Mak & more, and made some new friends.

I particularly like the banner posted today on site. It is a city map which covers our daily works and lives. It includes #Retail#Logistics#SupplyChain#Manufacturing#Healthcare#FinancialServices#Airport, etc. Then, they put the logos of their LEAP startups on the right spots on the map. It helps us visualize where and how these LEAP startups contribute to our works and lives, and collectively build a #SmartCity. You can download the map here.

Well thought and well done, team.

I am grateful to have Anna Lin #GS1HK as my guest in another episode of the #ToaSirDataTalk #ToaSir講數 series. Anna has been with #GS1 for 30 years and brought standards and rich experience to the #SupplyChain and #Retail industries in Hong Kong and the region.

We talked about how these industries have been making use of #data in the past 3 decades and the future decade. GS1 plays a vital role in #GlobalTrade#eCommerce and #O2O business. 6 billion GS1 #Barcodes scanned global daily. Data captured in these processes are very useful and powerful.

Anna pointed out that, from the beginning till now, #Digitization was important so everything could be easily managed and tracked in an effective and efficient ways. With processes and standards in place by using technologies like #RFID#IOT, the next important key step is #DataIntelligence. That is how to make good use of the captured data in our digitization phases to enhance our business, create values for customers and generate innovative business models.

What’s next? #SmartKiosk#AIOT#2DBarCode and more will further integrate data from supply chain and retail. Data analytics are the key. GS1 HK and #OpenCertHub shared the same vision. GS1 believes that a standardized barcode and further generation of the standard is the global language of business while OpenCertHub believes that data is the next business language apart from English and your local language.

Both organizations joined hands to launch a series of #BigData certification training to all levels of employees to strengthen their #DataLiteracy so that they unlock the value and power of the data generated in the supply chain and retail. We aim to #reskill and #upskill today’s leaders and workforce with the ability to analyze, communicate and argue with, storytelling about data, and most importantly making decision and taking actions based on data.

Thanks both #GS1HK and #OCH teams. Stay tuned on how to access my “Toa Sir Data talk” with Anna and other episodes in the series.
