Glad to sit down and have a chance to chat with Simon Chan, the new Chairman of Hong Kong #Cyberport. Simon is an experienced banker and has been contributing to the #innovation and #technology#ecosystem in public and private sectors for decades.

We explored different strategies and best practices in Hong Kong and worldwide innovation and technology hubs. More importantly, we shared how to empower our current and future #startups and #entrepreneurs.

We discussed the trends of #FinTech#MetaVerse#AI#BigData#DigitalTransformation for traditional enterprises and more. I also shard my book #數碼力大提升 with him. It was fruitful and insightful discussion.

Thanks Simon. We look forward to seeing more impactful initiatives from Cyberport to Hong Kong with your leadership. Will be there to collaborate and support.

Glad to catch up with Cally Chan GM, #Microsoft Hong Kong, to exchange ideas on the innovation and technology ecosystem and how we can collaborate to co-contribute more to Hong Kong. It was a meaningful discussion. Appreciate that, Cally.

Cally and I have things crossing over each other. Cally is one of our elite #CUHK#EMBA alumni and I am now a professor and associate director of our EMBA programme in CUHK. We are both very passionate in enpowering the #innovation and #technology ecosystem, in particular #startups and #entrepreneurs, in Hong Kong. Will continue to co-creating values for the ecosystem.

Congratulations to all the winners of the Digital Transformation of the Year Award of the 2022 Business GoVirtual Expo and Conference. Here are the awardees this year:

In particular, I was so glad to see Serena Pau from #CLP again and happy for her to win the award. She was one of the elite entrepreneurs with us at Cyberport and is now a brilliant intrapreneur at CLP. That is exactly what I am encouraging more corporates to have entrepreneurs to join them. It will bring their entrepreneurship experience, passion and innovative mindset to the companies. That is what corporates badly need. Well done, Austin R. Bryan,.

Thank you so much for Li Culsin from Baobab Tree Event and wilson chong of IoT HK Association to invite me as the Chairman of this award and an advisor for the conference. Happy to see so many friends f2f over the three days in the conference.

The conference lasted for 3 days and kicked off by the GOH, Professor Sun Dong, Secretary of Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau ITIB, HKSAR Government. Glad to have his support to us. I was impressed by his sincere chats with many of us in the conference. Appreciate Culsin and her teammates to make this happened.

Congratulations to #SAP for its 50th Anniversary. Nice to meet Rajni Sharma, the new Managing Director of SAP Hong Kong and Macau. Rajni is a nice, passionate and visionary leader. I am sure that we will see a lot more contribution from Rajni’s energetic SAP team to our #innovation and #technology #ecosystem.

Also really happy to see f2f many friends there Jade Tin Hei LeeSusanna ShenVincent SoBrian ChanThomson LaiHenry HuiSankar V SBryan MaMark Arel and made many new friends.

Really love to see more networking luncheon in a healthy and happy environment.

It was my first-time visit to the Hong Kong Observatory 香港天文台 #HKO headquarters in TST yesterday. It is on the top of a small mountain in the busy TST district. I can see the advanced devices and technologies as well as the 130+ years of legacy in the beautiful and historical buildings there. What a contrast and learning for this trip of mine!

I was invited to share my experience on how to collaborate with the #innovation and #technology #ecosystem to co-create values for customers and more importantly for citizens in Hong Kong. In fact, HKO has been good at making use of science and technologies but also putting emphasis on serving our citizens. I particularly appreciate their mission on “Innovate with Science, Serve with Heart” https://lnkd.in/d9XBB65J. I am impressed by what they have been doing for our citizens. Thank you.

I have shared how we can make use of data to understand the voice of our citizens and the importance of everyone in HKO to speak the language of data so they can solve the pain points of our citizens even better. Through most of the HKO colleagues are engineering background, they also recognized and agreed enhancing their data literacy with right data mindset and skills to understand citizens and solve customers pain points are very crucial for their success.

Thank you so much for Dr. Cheng, Director of HKO, his top management and staff participating in my sharing. In particular, thanks for their meaningful questions and ideas exchanges as well. Appreciate Justine Tang and #PolyU Research Institute for AI of Things #RIAoT to facilitate this sharing session.

Learned a lot today from the #MetaVerse practitioners in town in the 2nd forum of our “All About MetaVerse Series”. The main theme today was MetaVerse Strategies for #Brands#SMEs and #Entrepreneurs. I am so grateful to be the moderator of this series. More episodes will come shortly. Stay tuned with HKPC #Innopreneur vForum. My post on the 1st episode of this series can be found here. https://lnkd.in/dusKJYeA

Big thanks to our guest speakers Lorraine Cheung #YahooChris Wang #AWSKevin K T Lee #Redspots and Henry Chu #PillnPillow. Two of them are entrepreneurs and the other two are platform providers. That enabled us to discuss this topic from a more balanced perspective.

We discussed from MetaVerse opportunities, challenges to technologies, platforms, talents requirement and future skills. MetaVerse is not a hype but the direction is still being shaped. It is very early so everyone gets a chance but we need to keep learning and be open minded.

In essence, there are a few things that we need to strike a balance in order to make the best out of this unprecdented opportunity for the decade – MetaVerse.

1. The next 5 to 10 years will have lots of opportunities. By 2030, the market is going to reach 5 trillion USD globally. At same time, lots of regulations and governance needed to be in place to balance the opportunities and potential problems.

2. We have more opportunities from scalability to the global markets but at the same time competitions from global players.

3. New digital skills will be required but soft skills, like problem solving, communication, project management are equally important.

4. #Data analytics, #MachineLearning and #AI are crucial now and even more pivotal in the MetaVerse for customer experience and engagement.

5. SMEs are lack of resources and talents but lots of good partners in the MetaVerse ecosystem that they can leverage on.

6. Keep trying and learning to get started but be aware of the risks like losing Crypto from your hot wallets.

Lots more to come. See you in our 3rd MetaVerse episode soon. Have a good ride in your MetaVerse journey.

Thanks to Karen F.Elly Yip and their teammates #HKPCDr. Angus Ho #HKIM and Annie Yeung #Vootprint for their great effort to make this forum happened.

Remember my years in the US, I always got the fortune cookies from the local Chinese restaurants. Today, I got one in one of the best restaurants in Hong Kong. More importantly, it has further inspired me the importance of #DREAM.

The message inside my fortune cookies said, “In dreams and in life, nothing is impossible.”

I hope many of you much younger than me to keep on chasing your dreams especially in the #innovation and #technology ecosystem. Tons of opportunities for you and the sky is the only limit. #GOGOX has just listed in the Hong Kong main board. Their founders started with only HK$20K. It was a miracle and a legend but the power of dreams of the #founders and #entrepreneurs did matter a lot.

Keep it going. Many of the #Unicorns and even #Decacorns are yet to come.

As a practitioner in the #innovation and #technology industry for 30+ years, I am so grateful to see that our Hong Kong is going to have a global showcase on how technology and innovation can empower a #SmartCity#SkyCity is an impressive project to build another landmark for Hong Kong. Something that we Hong Kong people can be proud of again https://lnkd.in/ethaW9vu.

Smart airport, top shopping mall and commercial buildings (#11Skies https://www.11-skies.com/ or #Retailtainment from New World Development), world-class Expo exhibition centre, international hotels plus all the major scenic spots in the Lantau Island like #DisneyLand, and more importantly, providing a seamless experience for the key stakeholders of our #ecosystem including customers, tourists, visitors, merchants, tenants, startups and many others from the Greater Bay Area #GBA and all major cities around the globe. Appreciate the great leadership from Adrian Cheng #NWD.

Today, I moderated an expert panel to discuss how technologies could create that seamless customer experience for our SkyCity. There are 2 more panels on #ProfessionalServices and #Tourism in the forum. It drew over 10,000 offline and online audiences to attend today’s forum. Thank you so much for our panelists Chris Au Young #HKAAVivian Lo #CathayPacificPaul Sin #NWD, and Francis Fong #HKITF

Here is my quote for the event:
“SKYCITY is a global showcase of how innovation and technology can generate a joyful experience for worldwide visitors. Emerging technologies are coming to us every day. The sky is the only limit on how innovation and technology can make a difference to customers and merchants in the SKYCITY. Come and experience it!”

Appreciate the effort from our MC Akina Fong and those behind the scene from #BrunswickGroup #K11 #NWD Quinton Chan, Mercury WongIvan ChanVincci Hui 許煒森 and many others. Let’s collaborate together to build a smart SkyCity.

What does #retirement mean to you? Are you ready for your retirement journey? Who are in the #ecosystem and how can we collaborate together to make a difference to prepare Hong Kong people, rich or poor, old or young, for our retirement? How #innovation and #technology can achieve something that couldn’t be done before? and more..

I was so grateful to gather a group of experts in the ecosystem of retirement to discuss in the Mastermind Series of Sun Life Hong Kong. Sun Life has been in Hong Kong for 130 years.. Yes, 130 years since 1892. To keep on innovating, they launched this series to empower their colleagues and advisors to think and act “BOLDER and Beyond”. More to come in the Mastermind Series in the months ahead.

We also did a few polling questions to get feedback from about 600 audiences. One key question is:
Which of the following aspects on retirement is the most important to you?
1. Financials
2. Health
3. Life Style and Social Circle

What is your answer? Close to 70% of our audiences chose #Health. We did have a deep discussion on these 3 aspects and how to balance them. We also explored different retirement ways in key cities around the world as well as #GBA.

Thank you so much to Sun Life’s Clement Lam and all the panel speakers Hedy SatLouis LeeCindy Wong and Raymond Lai to share their thoughts on an important journey that everyone of us does care for ourselves and our families. Appreciate the great support from Alice ChuckShirley MakCarmen Lo and their teammates, and my teammates from CUHK. Have a nice weekend.
