Happy to visit Dr. Edmund Lee at the Gold Peak Technology Group today. Edmund has started a new journey in #GoldPeak after serving as CEO of Hong Kong Design Centre for years.

Gold Peak is not just a king in the battery market worldwide, but also an elite leader in the sound systems and technologies. Famous brands like #KEF #CELESTION just name a few. My visit and tour today really opened my eyes on how advanced and how far the quality, design and engineering of the #sound systems go especially their #speakers. Impressive! https://www.goldpeak.com/

Learned a lot from Edmund on bringing in ESG, Design and Innovation to the Group. With Edmund’s years of experience on product design, innovation and technology, I am sure the Gold Peak Group will reach another peak with his and GP’s C-suite leadership.

We also shared how important for leaders these days to empower everyone in the organization to be data literate. Edmund said, “Who in the world don’t need data literacy these days”. Edmund and his teammates have been changing their data mindset. Rather than just communicating using their expertise, they have also asked and used data to back things up. That really endorsed what we have been doing to empower enterprises in Hong Kong to speak, think and act on #data. Thanks Edmund to endorse our belief.

Look forward to collaborating with him and the Group in particular the crossovers of #ESG#Design #Digital and certainly #DataLiteracy.

#Data is no doubt the most important asset of leading enterprises in the #DigitalEconomy. The best way to learn about the use of data in businesses is to speak with the leaders and data experts in major industries. It was my honour to conduct a series of interviews with the renowned leaders in our “Toa Sir Data Talk” or “Toa Sir講數” programme organized by #OpenCertHub and supported by #HKPCAcademy. Appreciate all the efforts from both teams especially Andy Kwok Karen F. and Marius Chow. The main objective of the programme is to share the best practices of the use of data and strengthen the data literacy of the business leaders, executives and professionals. I am happy to launch our first episode at the beginning of the Year of the Tiger. It is available to watch now in the programme website https://toasirdatatalk.com. The rest of the series will be released in Feb and Mar. You are welcome to watch them and let’s learn together. More elite speakers will be on our programme. Stay tuned. If you have some data experience to share, please let me know and I am more than happy to invite you to our “Toa Sir Data Talk” programme. 1. Anna Lin #SupplyChain #Retail Chief Executive, GS1 Hong Kong https://lnkd.in/gsSYnZFk 2. Daniel Kwong #Telecom Former Chief Information and Innovation Officer, CITIC Telecom CPC 3. Susanna Chiu #NewRetail #eCommerce Executive Director, Bonjour Holdings https://lnkd.in/gHC9HwcD 4. Michael Yung #CustomerLoyalty #Platform #TravelTech Former Head of Digital Product and Technology, Asia Miles https://lnkd.in/ggvNv8BN 5. What car should I buy next? Is that your question too? That was my first question to ask Frederik Gollob, an veteran in automobile industry, in one of the panels in the annual global #BODW conference organized by #HKDC Hong Kong Design Centre 香港設計中心#GlobalDesignReset is the main theme of BODW this year. Fredrick and I had a very trendy and interesting fireside chat on the crossover of #Design and #Digital. Our topic was “Navigating a New World Order of Electric Vehicles”. Innovative design of the interior and exterior of the new #EV cars, digital empowerment on the car making it not just smart but also connected everything around to create unprecedented experience for our living and working in the city.

We also talked about other interesting topics like the trend of EV. The Empire like #BMW#Mercedes, is striking back. Traditional leaders will provide more choices and different EV models are expected from all major brands. #Tesla is not their only competitor. Several emerging EV brands #Li#Nio#XPeng from China are doing well with great design and digital features. They are also growing aggressively to the global markets. We will see more competitions ahead.

Another good one is that, “Will rich people buy EVs as they need prestigious image and have peer group pressure?”. An analog is that I am wearing a smart watch because of it’s cool, for health and friends community. I am not chasing after Rolex watch. Frederick said that it is getting there as EV car makers are launching high end luxurious cars. Really learnt a lot about #cars and #electrification from Fredrick. Thank you.

Appreciate Eric YimEdmund Lee, Dr. Joseph F WongJillian Lee and their great #HKDC teammates to organize such an insightful conference. Thank you for having me as a part of it.

Congrats to #AECOM Hong Kong to successfully launch its 1st #FastTrack #CityHack #Hackathon. It is the first stop of the AECOM’s hackathon series in Asia. Hong Kong is proud to be the first location showcasing how innovation empowers a smart city.

The AECOM’s #FastTrackCityHack is a two and a half days in-person hackathon and competition on December 3 – 5, 2021. It aims to inspire and drive the development of practicable, forward-looking solutions for a better urban future. It has 3 main streams for the participants to innovate for a #SmartCity#Resilience#CarbonZero and #DigitalEcosystem. Hundreds of students and entrepreneurs joined the hackathons and selected ones are now working hard in AECOM’s office to compete for the award.

Thanks Thomson Lai AECOM’s Asia Digital Leader for inviting me as a keynote speaker to get the passionate participants even more inspired for the hackathon. I chose the topic – “#Entrepreneurs: From Good to Great”. The participants are all good entrepreneurs already but what could differentiate them from good to great entrepreneurs. Solving the right problems right is the key. Appreciate #AECOMHK organizing such an impactful hackathon for Hong Kong and the great support from Madison Wai of Hill+Knowlton Strategies.

In the last 2 weeks, I am really grateful to contribute in different industries and professions, from #Engineering#Accounting#HR#ProjectManagement#Design, to #Banking#Insurance#SupplyChain and #Education, on how #innovation and #technologies or I&T made a difference. Our momentum on I&T in Hong Kong is unprecedented. Let’s transform #FromGoodToGreat. Keep it going!

#TECH * #DESIGN Crossover was the main theme of the panel that I moderated for the #BODW 2020. My honour having experienced serial entrepreneurs Jason Chiu and Fred Ngan together with design expert Amy Ip joined my panel today at the #ViuTV Studio in Hong Kong.

My key takeaway to get the best out of Design and Tech to create values for customers was that we need to build and cultivate a team with a diversity of background like Design, Tech, professionals, domain or subject matter experts, and more.

Most importantly, how to make them work together even under lots of challenges and differences. One of the best ways to do that is to leverage on customers as the focal point to validate different ideas and do it as often as we need. That can bring teammates with different views to align and co-create values for the sake of customers.

Well done, team. We all learned a lot from each other tonight.

Appreciate 香港設計中心 Eric Yim Edmund Lee and their teammates to lead and organize such an impressive international conferences with many renowned local and overseas speakers. Not easy for such under the Covid-19. Thank you.

Thanks for Edmund Lee and his teammates at #HKDC Hong Kong Design Centre to organize this year’s #KODW Knowledge of Design Week with theme on Designing Digital Future. It is a hybrid of virtual and physical conference with renowed #design and #digital experts around the globe as speakers.

Edmund’s team really gave us an excellent example of what the HK Design Centre always empowers us i.e. #CustomerCentricity. I can feel the details and processes that his team has been putting together to run this conference and helping every speaker and panelist in such a difficult period under Covid-19. Well done and appreciate it, team.

My discussion with Romeo Durscher from #DJI was very fruitful. One of the key takeaways for me is how his company connects many experts in #Drone#AI#MachineLearning and #BigData around the world through #Crowdsourcing and #SharingEconomy to build innovative models, technologies and applications to solve lots of problems in natural disasters, safety, health, etc.

For all #innovators and #entrepreneurs, while we may make money from our innovations, it is more important how we can make use of technologies to save lives and do social good. Great lesson today. Thanks Romeo.

The Annual Knowledge of Design Week #KODW will be live next week (Aug 26 to Aug 29). The annual event has been one of the best conferences in Hong Kong to learn #innovation and #design from experts worldwide. The theme this year is #DesigningDigitalFutures.

As a digital advocate, I am really glad to see more cross-over collaboration between the digital world and the design world. Here it is. Thanks Dr. Edmund Lee and his team at #HKDC #HongKongDesignCentre to organize such a great knowledge exchange week. You can find out more here.
