CUHK EMBA Hong Kong’s Got Talent was the main theme of our #CUHK #EMBA Reunion Dinner 2023. Really pleased to see many of my EMBA students without masks and with big smiles. They are in fact the core talents of Hong Kong. Well done the organizing team to organize such a great reunion gathering. Thanks for Pong Yuen, Howard Lam and his EMBA teammates for all the effort. Special thank to Professor Andrew Chan for his 30 years of contribution to our EMBA programme. Amazing!

Back to school finally! Welcome our CUHK Chinese EMBA students back to our main CUHK campus in Hong Kong. Yes, it was all physical presence with no zoom and no MetaVerse. Today, we had a welcome dinner with our professors, students and colleagues .

If there was no pandemic, our EMBA students in mainland China were supposed to take most of the classes in our Hong Kong campus. Unfortunately, they haven’t been able to do so in the last 3 years and had to go online for most of their classes.

Apart from our core CUHK EMBA programme in Hong Kong, which is conducted in English, I also taught a few corporate innovation and entrepreneurship classes in Putonghua on Zoom together with a few guest speakers to our Chinese EMBA students. It was a valuable journey to share my experience with senior executives in mainland China and I learned a lot from them as well. It went well but it was still not as engaging and impactful as f2f classes where I can play “Ping Pong” (interactive chats) with my students on classes as I used to do.

It was a good start today to see our students in person. Good news is that my next class for CUHK Chinese EMBA will be f2f in our HK main campus. The students will come to Hong Kong for 4 consecutive days for every course. Will get it ready to have an impactful learning journey with my fellow executive students from the mainland. See you all soon.

Appreciate the great effort and support from our Chinese EMBA programme team. Let’s have many many great cohorts ahead without masks and Zoom any more. Cheers.

Our CUHK EMBA team had a joyful lunch gathering today to kickoff the Year of the Rabbit. Really thankful and grateful to have the great support from our EMBA teammates behind the scene so that we can focus on teaching and sharing with our students, and our students can focus on learning.

In 2023, our CUHK EMBA programme marches forth into its 30th year. So many CUHK EMBA graduates have gone through the journey and become elite leaders in Hong Kong and the rest of the world. Really appreciate all our teammates behind the scene in the last 30 years to make this happen. Our current and past teammates all contributed a lot to the growth of not just CUHK but also Hong Kong. Let’s give them a big 👍. Thank you.

Today, I saw another lively side of our CUHK EMBA alumni and students. I used to see my students in classroom with masks or graduation parties with formal suit and dress. Today, we were on basketball court with shorts and Ts. I can see them with no masks. What a contrast! Our alumni and students are really wonderful and beautiful no matter where they are in formal and informal scenarios.

Thank you so much for having me on the court tonight. I enjoyed every minute there to play a bit and watch them to have good games and fun as well. What an amazing evening!

As Covid is leaving us, we can have different f2f ways to reunion with our students and continue to support each other in our journey. See you all on the court next time.

Joined the GS1 Hong Kong Summit 2022 today in my capacity as the President of Internet of Things #IoT Industry Advisory Council https://lnkd.in/gZ3M-NrZ. Thanks for Anna Lin‘s invitation.

Really like the main theme “Enabling Growth through #IDD“. Guess what IDD means? We may recall the old memory of IDD which means the International Direct Dialing. IDD today means #Innovation#Disruption and #DigitalTransformation. I learned a lot more about ESG, Digital Transformation, New Retail, Data Analytics, eCommerce, Trade Finance, and MetaVerse from many speakers and panelists like Rico Lau#LawsgroupLouis Mah#MaximsSamuel lau#KerryLogisticsAnson Bailey (eMBA)#KPMGNelson Chow#HKMASandy Tan#DBS, and many others today.

More importantly, met many good friends f2f whom we haven’t seen each other physically for the last 3 years. Really felt great and warm to see many bright entrepreneurs and leaders such as Dr. Michael Chan #CafeDeCoralLucia Cheung#HKIMDanny Shum#Ztore#TVBKeith Wu#FulumCrystal Pang#PickupsVincent SoHenry Yeung#RTIA.

I am also very happy to see my elite #CUHK#EMBA students like Vincent WongEdmund ChanMae Chen there. Really grateful that my students have started engaging more with the #innovation and #technology#ecosystem as I often encourage them to do more. Well done.

Thank you so much to May Chung, FACKMAnna LinMignone ChengDr. Stephen LamCorinna Fung and many others from GS1 Hong Kong team #GS1HK to organize such a fruitful summit.

Don’t forget to download the excellent report “Retail Recharged: Engaging consumers with technology, purpose and trust – 2022 Survey” from GS1HK and KPMG. Thanks the perfect Duo Anna Lin and Anson Bailey (eMBA) to present its key findings on stage. Brilliant and insightful performance.

Today is the Moment of the Truth #MOT for my CUHK EMBA students in my Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship course. After 8 days of intensive lectures, case discussion, guest speakers’ sharing, they were presenting their group projects.

The project required my students to study a company’s corporate innovation from 6 different perspectives or dilemmas that they learned from my classes and offsite dinners as well 😄😋.
1. Old Economy vs Digital Economy
2. Customer Centricity vs Innovation
3. Strategy Execution vs Searching for Innovation
4. Internal Innovation vs Open Collaboration
5. Entrepreneurship vs Intrapreneurship
6. Experience Driven vs Data Driven

Really grateful to have such a group of elite executives and professionals in my class with strong learning attitude and positive, open and growth mindset. I can feel and see from the quality, innovativeness and teamwork of their final projects. Thank you so much for their great effort.

Appreciate my guest speakers to spend their weekend time to share their experience with us. We have learnt a lot from their talk, discussion and asking sensible questions. Thanks Jacqueline Chong #AWS #AmazonJens-Peter Brauner, FIET
#SiemensMobility #SiemensRyan Lai #foodpanda, and Austin R. Bryan, #CLP. Their sharing had really made a huge difference. Thank you.

Special thanks to the feedback from my last year’s CUHK EMBA2022 students as they requested the school to lengthen this course from 1.5 credit to 3.0 credit so that I can have more time to share my experience and discuss content more thoroughly with my students this year. It was indeed much more fruitful. Really thankful to like Anita ChanChris SoRicky LeeHans Till (CUHK Executive MBA, PMP)Daniel Ching and many others. It has been a year since they presented their final project. https://lnkd.in/gpHhgZS3

I enjoyed a lot with my students in this journey of learning. Wish my sharing can further nurture and more importantly empower them to be innovative leaders in their respective industries and professions. My last advice for them, “What should we do differently from yesterday so we can survive today (and perhaps tomorrow)”. Keep it up, team.

After almost 3 years of the Covid, our lives are gradually back to normal, at least, close to it. I am so grateful that I could meet with my EMBA students not only f2f in class (with masks), but also in causal dinners (without masks and with smiles) as well. I had a few dinners with different teams in my Corporate Innovation course in the last few weeks. Apart from discussing about innovation and technology, we talked about almost everything. I have a very good diversity in my class this year with business owners, corporate leaders from different industries, entrepreneurs and professionals like doctors, lawyers, accountants and engineers. That is an excellent mix to learn innovation. Really enjoyed our gatherings and understood a lot more about their lives and works. We all learned a lot more than in the classrooms. What a class! What a memory! Thanks to my fellow students. Appreciate Dop SunRachel Yu and Vincent Wong https://lnkd.in/gdH2YRny and a few other fellow students to organize such great gatherings. Hope the Covid is really getting away from us and we all can have more personal touch. It really matters and technology simply cannot replace it. Just finished another two fruitful days with my CUHK EMBA students. I continued to talk about corporate innovation. Appreciate Ryan Lai#foodpanda to join us in the weekend and share his corporate innnovation and entrepreneurship experience with us. It was a fruitful and insightful session. Thanks Ryan.

I met Ryan when he was running his startup and now he is heading the foodpanda Hong Kong. He is bringing in his entrepreneurial experience to run foodpanda. We can all see the great achievements of Ryan and his company in the last few years.

It is often hard to balance execution and innovation. From Ryan, we all learnt a lot how to acheive results and at the same time to keep innovating like an enterprenur.

We have discussed a few key questions for the success of corporate innovation. Thanks my good students like Edmund ChanDop Sun to ask sensible questions as well.
1. What can corporates learn from the Startup Cycle?
2. How to empower staff to innovate with the support from experienced leaders and corporate resources?
3. How to prioritize and decide when and how to start a new business?

My goal is to empower my EMBA students to be entrepreneurial leaders to manage and grow their businesses. Will continue this mission in my journey of nurturing more future elite leaders for our society.

Another great cohort of CUHK EMBA has just started. Welcome to all elite leaders, executives and professionals to join our EMBA Class of 2024.

All of our students had an excellent start in our CUHK EMBA Residence Week. We can see another group of passionate and bright minds this year. This group is also a real demonstration of diversity in our EMBA programme in terms of gender, nationality, industry, profession and character as well.

Thanks to the leadership from Professor Pong Yuen, Howard Lam, and my colleagues Dominic ChanChun So and many others behind the scene, to make this week a fruitful and impactful one to everyone.

Heartfelt thank to our master professor and mentor Professor Andrew Chan and our elite alumnus Cally Chan, and Dr. Gilbert Cheung to share their knowledge and experience with us. Appreciate it.

May I wish all students of our CUHK EMBA Class of 2024 to have a joyful, meaningful and fruitful journey in the next 2 years. See you all in my #innovation and #technology class.

Glad to catch up with Cally Chan GM, #Microsoft Hong Kong, to exchange ideas on the innovation and technology ecosystem and how we can collaborate to co-contribute more to Hong Kong. It was a meaningful discussion. Appreciate that, Cally.

Cally and I have things crossing over each other. Cally is one of our elite #CUHK#EMBA alumni and I am now a professor and associate director of our EMBA programme in CUHK. We are both very passionate in enpowering the #innovation and #technology ecosystem, in particular #startups and #entrepreneurs, in Hong Kong. Will continue to co-creating values for the ecosystem.
